The age-old battle between efficiency and performance comes to an end with the 2010 Chevy Cobalt. You get the most out of every gallon with Cobalt XFE, which gives you the BEST STANDARD HIGHWAY FUEL ECONOMY of any compact coupe or sedan — 37 MPG. Not only does XFE beat Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Ford Focus in standard highway fuel economy, it also offers more standard horsepower. If you prefer something with an extra kick, Cobalt SS Turbocharged Coupe has a 2.0L ECOTEC DOHC Turbocharged engine that turns out 260 HORSEPOWER, making it the MOST POWERFUL IN ITS CLASS. And it offers 30 MPG highway.

Chevy Cobalt. Now you can start passing more than traffic.

What Wikipeda says…

The Chevrolet Cobalt is a compact car introduced by Chevrolet in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The Cobalt replaced both the Cavalier and the Prizm as Chevrolet’s compact car.

It is available as both a coupe and sedan and is based upon the GM Delta platform also shared with the Chevrolet HHR, Pontiac G5, Astra and the Opel Zafira (a seven seat MPV). Also available is a high performance, Super Sport variant. All Cobalts are currently manufactured at GM’s Lordstown Assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio. The United States Environmental Protection Agency? classifies the Cobalt as a subcompact car.

Starting in 2009, Chevrolet will launch the Cobalt’s global successor the Chevrolet Cruze (based on the new Delta II platform) in Europe with launches in other markets (including the US) to proceed in 2010. The Cruze will be built in multiple locations around the world including the Lordstown Assembly, at which the Cruze will briefly be built alongside the Cobalt until the latter is completely phased out. “The Cruze will build on the already successful Chevrolet Cobalt, Cobalt XFE and Cobalt SS, all of which are nearly sold out in dealer showrooms,” said GMNA vice president of Chevrolet Ed Peper. “Our dealers are asking for many more Cobalts than we can build.”

Great mileage meets Ford-exclusive technologies to put 2010 Focus in a class by itself. Plus, it delivers a high fun-to-drive factor, and provides comfort, refinement and safety usually found in more expensive cars, and quality unsurpassed in its segment. So, save money from the showroom to the gas pump, and get more. MPGs. More cool tech. More of what you’re looking for.

Wrap your hands around the just-right rim of the 3-spoke steering wheel, dip into a bucket of torque courtesy of the 140-hp 2.0L Duratec® I-4, and make the scenery blur. Euro-inspired 4-wheel independent suspension features rear Control BladeTM technology for extra handling finesse. Work the standard 5-speed manual or go shiftless with an
optional automatic.

What Wikipeda says…

The Ford Focus is a compact car introduced to North America in 1999 for model year 2000, now in its second generation. The North American models were initially co-developed with the international Focus which debuted at the 1998 Paris Motor Show and were eventually manufactured and sold worldwide, including South America, Africa, Australia, and Asia.

First generation North American Focus models paralleled the international Focus using the C170 platform for sedan, hatchback (3 and 5-door), and wagon configurations – with an intermediate facelift for the 2005 model year.

Where second generation North American Focus models continue with the C170 platform beginning with model year 2008 — in sedan and coupe configurations — the international Focus introduced in 2005 employs the newer C1 platform for sedan, hatchback (3 and 5-door), and wagon configurations.

The Focus replaced the Ford Escort/Mercury Tracer and Ford Coutour/Mercury Mystique in North America and won North American Car of the Year award for 2000 (the Ford Focus (international) won European Car of the Year in 1999).

Together with their global siblings, Focus models rank as the 40th bestselling automotive nameplate worldwide, with over 5 million sold.

Bringing fuel-efficiency to a whole new level, the 2010 Corolla delivers much more than you would ever expect from a vehicle in this class. With a roomy interior and unexpected features like the available push-button start and automatic climate control, Corolla will surprise you with every turn. Enhanced safety features such as side curtain airbags, ABS brakes, and vehicle stability control offer a safe and smooth ride every time.

What the Wikipedia says…

The Corolla is a line of subcompact/compact cars manufactured by the Japanese automaker Toyota, which has become very popular throughout the world since the nameplate was first introduced in 1966. In 1997, the Corolla became the best selling nameplate in the world, with over 35 million sold as of 2007. Over the past 40 years, one Corolla car has been sold on average every 40 seconds. The series has undergone several major redesigns.

The name Corolla is part of Toyota’s naming tradition of using the name Crown for primary models: the Corona, for example, gets its name from the Latin for crown; Corolla is Latin for small crown.

Thanks to the compact, 1.8-litre, 16-valve, SOHC, i-VTEC, 4-cylinder engine, there’s the power and performance of 140 horsepower at the ready. That’s 2.0-litre engine performance with the fuel efficiency you would expect from a smaller 1.5-litre engine. Plus, the Drive-by-Wire Throttle System™ helps deliver smooth, efficient engine response when you need it. And for an added touch of driving excitement, there’s a 5-speed manual or available 5-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control and lockup torque converter to enhance performance and efficiency – all in a low-emission vehicle with a Tier 2 Bin 5 rating.

What Wikipedia says…

The Honda Civic is a line of compact cars developed and manufactured by Honda. In North America, the Civic is the second-longest continuously-running nameplate from a Japanese manufacturer; only the Toyota Corolla, introduced in 1968, has been in production longer. Having gone through several generational changes, the Civic has become larger and more upmarket, and it currently slots between the Fit and Accord.

It was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door coupe, followed by a three-door hatchback that September. With the transverse engine mounting of its 1169 cc engine and front-wheel drive like the British Mini, the car provided good interior space despite overall small dimensions. Early models of the Civic were typically outfitted with a basic AM radio, heater, foam-cushioned plastic trim, two-speed wipers and painted steel rims with a chromed wheel nut cap. As the years went by, it has become much more upscale with options such as air conditioning, power locks, and power windows, leather upholstery, satellite-linked navigation, and a six-speed manual transmission. Initially gaining a reputation for being fuel-efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly, later iterations have become well-known for performance and sportiness, especially the Civic Type-R and Civic Si.

As of 2008, the Civic has been the top-selling car in Canada for eleven straight years. With high gas prices and a weak economy in June 2008, the Civic supplanted the Ford F-Series to become the top-selling vehicle in the United States for that month.
